Amazon restricts sales of popular movies and games to Prime members only - atchisoncomence
That Amazon River Prime subscription is flattering more and more useful, for totally the wrong reasons. As determined this morning: Amazon is now qualifying sales of select movies and round top-tier video game titles to Prime members. As in, if you don't have Prime they won't sell you a copy at altogether—though the restrictions come out to be slightly in state of flux.
Instead of the "Add to Drag" button, this is what you'll now reckon if you're not a Prime appendage and you adjudicate to buy certain video games or movies:
The program doesn't seem especially large at the moment—Grand larceny Car V is the first big example in the U.S., As spotted by Engadget—merely it remains to be seen how many titles will eventually fall nether this umbrella. In the U.K., Videogamer reports that it also includes Far-off Cry Of import, Fifa 16, Rainbow Six: Siege, Far Cry Primal, and Battlefield Sturdy. Business Insider also noticed some Blu-ray discs with the restriction, as well.
And Amazon's response to Videogamer isn't really reassuring:
"Peerless of the many benefits of Virago Prime is access to scoop selection happening a number of great products. Customers who are not Prime members can sign in-up for a 30-day unrestrained trial of Amazon Prime, or they can purchase those items from a Marketplace seller."
That latter tur is prodigious. It's non impractical to buy these games on Amazon—you just can't buy up them from Amazon. Non-Prime members are restricted to purchasing from third parties.
It's a dangerous move by Amazon, though. Part of Amazon River's appeal (for me leastways) is the fact I stool buy anything. And reasonable like when the company stopped marketing the Chromecast and Apple Tv set concluding year, information technology feels like a bad involve Amazon to put doubt in anyone's mind that they won't be able to find what they deficiency.
At the moment it shouldn't affect Microcomputer gamers much, I hope. After all, how many PC gamers are purchasing corporeal copies of games, except for people already cashing in connected being a Prime phallus? But we'll keep an eye on this trend and understand if information technology spreads further. Since the issue first was reported, some of the U.K-founded restrictions appear to have lifted, thoughGrand Theft Auto Vand theBirdman Blu-shaft of light are limited to Ground members only in the U.S.
